Who We Are

"Decent TV" is the acronym for the Decency Enforcement Center for Television, a Michigan based "501 c 3" nonprofit corporation. Our website is  new! More content  and features will be added in the coming months.

What We Do

Decent TV is engaged in legal advocacy in the U.S. federal courts to support a  continuation of the nation's present laws that restrict obscenity and indecency on broadcast television and radio. Decent TV has filed amicus ("friend of the court") briefs in cases pending with the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Court. In those cases, the major U.S. television networks (CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox) have requested the courts to permanently strike down  all laws and rules restricting  broadcast indecency for television and radio, even though the Supreme Court has already previously upheld those laws. They are arguing for a new "right" to air and show virtually any level of explicit indecency into every home and place in the U.S. at any time without any restraint or legal responsibility. The already high level of indecent content of broadcasting would permanently increase beyond comprehension if they succeed in court.

Decent TV fills a void by filing briefs that provide the courts with crucial legal and factual information that they need, to make intelligent legal decisions in those cases, in order to protect all Americans. Decent TV has a leadership role, as no other organization has this primary purpose. On a very small budget, Decent TV is successfully taking on the major broadcast television networks with their multi-million dollar budgets and high priced law firms in court. Decent TV also provides the Federal Communications Commission with consulting on these issues and other related broadcasting matters, since the FCC is limited by the courts in its ability to defend the law. Our express corporate purpose is to defend and enforce civil rights secured by law, primarily as to public decency in television broadcasting.

Decent TV was incorporated in Michigan in 2007 and is registered with the Michigan Attorney General as a charitable corporation.
